Turquoise is also one of the stones that is attributed with special properties in Islam and Shiites are encouraged to use it. Here we will refer to some of the hadiths that describe this stone to get to know this special stone better.
Iqbal al-A’mal: Imam Reza (a.s.) says in the virtue of the day of Ghadir: On the day of Ghadir, God presented the wilayat of Ali to the people of the seven heavens. The people of the seventh heaven took precedence over all others. Therefore, He adorned that heaven with the Throne. Then the people of the fourth heaven. He adorned it with Bayt al-Ma’mur. Then the people of the worldly heaven. He adorned it with stars. Then He presented it on the lands. Mecca took precedence over all others. He adorned Mecca with the Kaaba. Then Medina took precedence over it. He adorned it with Muhammad Mustafa (s.a.w.a.) and his family. Then Kufa adorned it with the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) and He presented it on the mountains. Three mountains took precedence over all others. Aqiq, turquoise and ruby. These became the mines of these gems and the best jewels. Then the other mountains accepted them and became mines of gold and silver. And whatever did not confess and was not accepted, nothing grew in it. On that day, he offered the dominion over the waters. Any water that accepted it became sweet. Any water that was not accepted became salty and sharp. And he offered it over the plants. Whatever he accepted became sweet and good, and whatever he did not accept became bitter. Then he offered the dominion over the birds that day. Any of them accepted it became eloquent and had a good voice, and any of them rejected it became dumb and speechless. Until the end of the story…
Abdul Khair says: Ali (peace be upon him) had four rings that he wore: a ruby for his nobility and greatness, turquoise for his victory, Chinese iron for his strength, and agate for his safety. (There was an engraving on each of them.) On the ruby was the inscription: La ilaha illallah, al-mulk al-haq al-mubiin (There is no god but Allah, the true King, the manifest one), and the turquoise inscription was: Allah, the true King, and the Chinese iron inscription was: Al-Izza Allah, all of them. And the inscription on the agate was in three lines: Ma shaa Allah, La quwwata illallah (There is no power but Allah), Istighfar Allah (I seek forgiveness from Allah).
Abdul-Mu’min Ansari says: I heard Imam Sadiq (a.s.) say: A hand that has a turquoise ring on it will not become poor.
Looking at a turquoise ring with the words “Allahu al-Mulk” written on it is good. Turquoise originally comes from Paradise, and Gabriel brought it to the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his family) as a gift, and he in turn gave it to the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), which is called “Zafar” in Arabic.
